TDGA involved in Tucson parks master-planning process; bd. to meet

Tucson is planning for the future of its parks, and disc golf is part of the vision.  The Tucson Disc Golf Association is currently providing formal input to the Tucson Parks and Recreation Department as part of its 5-year master planning process. The TDGA was included in a facilities users focus group on Sept. 9, led by city master-planning consultants Norris Design. TDGA President Dave Wichner represented the club and made a short presentation outlining the history and rapid growth of the club, its longtime, ongoing partnership with the city to build and improve city parks courses, and the great need for additional DG courses, with a goal of building a new 18-hole championship-level city course in the near future. The city had the TDGA penciled in as a participant early on as a longtime user group and our message was very well received. We plan to be there every step of the way during the master planning process, and you can help.

The city has scheduled a series of ward meetings to gather public input on the plan. TDGA members are encouraged to attend at least one of the meetings and/or send a message of support for more and better disc golf facilities.
